About Us

Pleotint is located in Jenison, Michigan, and was established in 1998. Since then we have been powering through research and attempting to change the window glazing industry with  proprietary developments.  Pleotint is dedicated to excellence in the manufacturing of Suntuitive™ as well as to the customers we serve.  

The talent on our team stems from many different paths and capabilities all coming together to teach one another and grow together.  Expertise molded from members past experiences have been chosen to form the company and lead us to our ultimate goal.  We believe in our product, we believe in our work and most importantly, we believe in each other.                                                         See Our Core Values 

Leader Bio's

Pleotint has assembled a proven and experienced management team to develop and commercialize its Suntuitive film.  Pleotint's founder and CEO, Dr. Harlan Byker, is the world's foremost expert on thermochromism.  He and his R&D staff have assembled an unprecedented level of knowledge and experience related the science, and commercial usability, of thermochromics.  

Dr. Harlan Byker, CEO,  Pleotint Owner
Harlan brings over 30 years of scientific research and development, invention, manufacturing and patent experience to Pleotint. 
Harlan is an inventor or co-inventor on 44 US patents and he invented the chemistry portion of the first commercially successful electrochromic device, an automatic dimming rear view mirror for motor vehicles. Over 100 million of these mirrors have been sold, and more than 10% of all vehicles built in the world today incorporate one or more electrochromic mirrors with the chemistry he invented.  He holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry and was previously a vice president and board member of Gentex Corporation. Prior to Gentex, Harlan was a research scientist at Battelle Columbus Laboratories.

Curtis Liposcak, President
Curtis comes to Pleotint after having served as the President of Crown Operations International Ltd. in Madison, WI for 15 years. Crown is an independent global manufacturer that produces and assembles complex PVB interlayers for the automotive and architectural glass markets.  Accordingly, he is bringing to Pleotint a wealth of international industry knowledge relating to the successful marketing and development of advanced interlayers for use in glass lamination. 

David Byker, Director, Pleotint Owner
David is a managing member of Global Asset Management Holdings, LCC (GAM).  David was President of Rapid Design Service, Inc. (RDS) - an engineering and design firm with over 4,000 employees in 35 offices, operating in 8 countries - and as an owner of RDS he helped to arrange and manage its sale in 1998. At RDS, David oversaw the acquisition of three companies and worked extensively with a major bank syndicate for two years. Prior to RDS, David was a Senior Partner for 14 years at the accounting firm of Byker, Van Popering, and Bergsma, CPAs, which specialized in tax and financial planning. In addition, David has extensive experience structuring, financing, investing in, and managing private companies in the areas of energy, technology, finance, real estate and services. Mr. Byker received both his Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree and MBA from the University of Michigan with majors in finance, accounting and marketing.

Paul Ogburn, Vice President
Paul offers over 30 years of professional management experience to Pleotint.  He spent several years in production and engineering in manufacturing facilities throughout Oregon and Idaho.  Paul was then recruited to Michigan by a manufacturing company to bring a cohesive structure to their production facilities.  He then transitioned to management of a warehousing/logistics company where his skills were utilized to manage not only the facility but also customer needs.   Paul came to Pleotint in 1998.  Through his diverse and well-rounded career, Paul brings essential skills of management, engineering, accounting, warehousing, and sales to the Pleotint team.


Tom Donovan, CFO 
Tom has over 20 years of international business experience. From 2002 to 2006 he was Chief Financial Officer of InterOil Corporation, a publicly traded (US, Canada and Papua New Guinea exchanges) integrated energy company in Australasia. Prior to InterOil, Tom held various senior financial positions with Rapid Design Service, Inc. (8 years) and International Total Services, Inc. (4 years).  His career has given him a broad spectrum of experience in accounting, financing, management, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, structuring and regulatory compliance in the areas of energy, finance, manufacturing, real estate and services. Mr. Donovan has a Bachelor of Business and Administration (Accounting and Finance) degree from the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio.
