Pleotint has assembled a proven and experienced management team to develop and commercialize its SRT™ film:
Dr. Harlan Byker, President and owner, brings over 30 years of scientific research and development, invention, manufacturing and patent experience to Pleotint. Harlan invented the chemistry portion of the first commercially successful electrochromic device, an automatic dimming rear view mirror for motor vehicles. Over 100 million of these mirrors have been sold, and more than 10% of all vehicles built in the world today incorporate one or more electrochromic mirrors with the chemistry he invented. Harlan is an inventor or co-inventor on 44 US patents. He holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry and was previously a vice president and board member of Gentex Corporation. Prior to Gentex, Harlan was a research scientist at Battelle Columbus Laboratories.
David Byker, owner via GAM, has over 30 years of business, finance and accounting experience. He has been in involved in the ownership of over 20 businesses and investments. David provides management direction and accounting services to the company, but is not involved in day-to-day operations. David is in the venture capital business.
Fred Millett, Director of Sales and Marketing, brings over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and engineering, primarily in new product development, to Pleotint. Fred has a Masters degree in Management and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Fred has worked in the glass manufacturing, automotive (electrochromic - rear view mirrors), appliance, medical and industrial equipment industries. Fred previously worked for Pilkington (one of the world’s largest glass manufacturers) in sales, marketing and new product development. Fred successfully introduced Pyrostop, a fire rated glass product, to the commercial glass market while at Pilkington. Fred has four patents issued and one pending.
Paul Ogburn, General Manager, offers over 25 years of engineering, manufacturing and management experience to Pleotint. Paul spent 7 years working in production and as an engineer with Ore-Ida Foods, before moving to Michigan to manage a multi-shift manufacturing facility that employed over 250 people and had $30 million in gross revenue. Paul supervised the day-to-day activities of employee relations, accounting, quality, production, shipping and engineering. Paul has collaborated on two thermochromic patents, one pending patent and one thermoscattering patent.
Derick Winkle, Senior Research Scientist, has 12 years of scientific research and development experience. Derick holds a Masters degree from Purdue University in organic chemistry and is author or co-author of 6 primary research journal articles. Additionally, he is a named inventor on 6 patents/patent applications. Prior to coming to Pleotint, Derick spent almost 5 years as a process chemist with Pfizer Inc., developing scaleable synthetic routes for experimental pharmaceutical compounds, and 2 years with Gentex Corporation on the discovery and development of improved electrochromic systems.
Tom Donovan, Chief Financial Officer, has 16 years of international experience in accounting, finance and administrative management. Tom works with David Byker and will dedicate as much time as needed to Pleotint. Tom spent four years as Chief Financial Officer of InterOil Corporation, a publicly traded company, and eight years as Controller of Rapid Design Service, Inc.
Pleotint has consulting arrangements with science professors from several universities and other experts in various scientific fields. There is regular contact with these consultants as needed.
