How far along is the product development?   Existing patents for the SRT™ window system include 237 claims in two issued US Patents, as well as a European patent. Patents are pending in Japan, Mexico and Canada.   In addition to the patents, Pleotint has created a film with acceptable performance for the tinting and heat rejection with the most desired tint color of neutral gray, and has successfully product prototype SRT window system samples.      How can I learn more about the product?   For more information, please e-mail all questions and comments to info@pleotint.com.      How does the product function? Unlike many other systems, Pleotint’s SRT™ window system functions by itself, without manual, electronic or mechanical intervention. This minimizes the inconvenience for the occupants and maximizes the potential energy savings, since no action is required to activate the windows.     How can I buy the product?   Unfortunately the product is still in the research and development stage. We hope to have full-functional windows by October 2009.      How durable is the product? We are currently performing durability tests in Michigan, Florida, and Arizona. Pleotint has two large Weatherometers for exposing samples to simulated sunlight 24 hours a day.     How difficult will it be to install? The installation is the same as traditional windows. Pleotint’s SRT™ window system functions as a variable light transmission device without the need for electricity, unlike some of the competitive technologies.  With Pleotint’s SRT™ window system no wires or electricity are needed; no electrician is needed to run wires or make connections; there are no wires penetrating the insulated glass construction to cause a leakage path; there is no control scheme required to operate the window (when the sun shines the window works); there are no electrical connections to fail due to short circuits, oxidized connections or electrical surges.    What sizes and shapes will the window come in? Since the SRT™ window film is in the center pane, the outside pane can be different types of glass allowing for the aesthetic look of the glass from the outside to match the architect’s vision or performance requirements. The outside pane of glass can be clear, tinted, laminated, or special types of glass such as self-cleaning or safety glass (e.g. resistant to blasts, bullets or hurricanes). A number of variations are possible with Pleotint’s SRT™ window system. It will be possible to have different color tinting if that is desired. Window shapes like half circles, triangles or stars are possible. SRT™ windows can even be made using bent glass. We believe design possibilities are endless and the system still performs well.
